Far Rockaway

The community of Far Rockaway is part of the Rockaway Peninsula that is situated in one of the boroughs of New York which is Queens. It is found on the farthest east portion of the Rockaways, often described as the place in the east of Beach 77th Street, consisting smaller communities of Bayswater, Edgemere, Arverne, Far Rockaway’s proper and downtown. This district is among the farthest New York community from Manhattan which is the financial and cultural capital of the City of New York. Previously, its population consists of Eastern European Jewish and Irish settlers. But at present African Americans have the largest number in this area, although the farthest west part still has mostly Irish residents. The community of Far Rockaway is among the two cities of New York that has a subway station near the city proper. The people in Far Rockaway thus have two alternatives to take in going to Manhattan through subway. The community of Far Rockaway is being served by the New York City Department of Education and is zoned to various elementary schools. It also has Jewish schools and synagogues for the Jewish residents living in the area. Several famous people who reside in the area are Richard Bey, Joyce Brothers, Carl Icahn, Steve Madden, Morton Feldman, and Father MC.
