Bridgeport is a small village that is situated in the Town of Sullivan in the County of Madison, New York and is populated with about 1,665 residents according to the year 2000 statistics. The small town of Bridgeport spreads partially on the County of Onondaga and on the eastern part of Oneida Park which is a small village of the Cicero Town. It is approximately located 11 miles northeast of Syracuse, New York and 147 miles east of Buffalo, New York. The community is measured to have a total area of 1.8 square miles without a portion that consist of water. The Chittenango Creek which is located on the west side of Bridgeport is the border in the midst of the two counties Madison and Onondaga. The New York State Route 31 is its main highway that runs east to west through the area. Roughly 71% of the homes found in Bridgeport are settled by their owners. There are also a lot of apartments in this small town and rents are lesser compare to many places in New York. The property taxes in Bridgeport are lesser by New York standards. Most of the residents in this community drive to work since it is difficult to reside in this town without a vehicle compare to most areas its size.
