Brockport is a hamlet municipality of Sweden in the county of Monroe, state of New York, United States. The area population was about 8,103 as of the Millennium Statistical studies. The area name came from Hiel Brockway which is an ancient colonizer. Brockport is located along the western area in the county of Monroe, just west in the City of Rochester. The hamlet is situated in the north of the annex New York State Route 19 which is north to south also with the Route 31 of New York which is east to the western area along the northern municipality of Sweden. The hamlet is known itself as the “Victorian Village on the Erie Canal” Brockport presently redeveloped the village section of the Erie Canal with a bricked pathway, a brand new canal for tourist’s center, and a many pieces of arts. The hamlet of Brockport was established in 1829. The hamlet was created around 1820 and develops as important as what the port of the Erie Canal; also the hamlet was generally the end from the canal up to the west terminus of the canal was done. The hamlet’s name is asserted to be a short form of “Brockways Port”. Brockport had a low crime rate, but presently had its first homicide in 26 years in shooting party that lasts in the Rochester neighborhood of Canandaigua. |
