Guilderland is an incorporated community in Albany District, New York, United States. The hamlet had an estimated 32,688 citizens. The hamlet’s title formally signifies "Moneyland" in Dutch. Guilderland was named after Guilderlandt, in the Netherlands. The hamlet of Guilderland is on the north edge of the district. It is west of Albany, the central of New York. The Dutch lived in this region in the 17th century. Also, the area was once a division of Rensselaer. The hamlet of Guilderland was established in 1803, in distinction to a region of the, then, hamlet of Watervliet. In the time of WWII, there was a small missile junkyard in Guilderland to provide fuel and ammunition to the battle exertion. In the time of the American Revolution, the hamlet was separated in its loyalties. The hamlet margins Schenectady District, New York, including the incorporated communities of Princetown as well as Rotterdam on the northern and western borders. Moreover, it margins the hamlets of Colonie, New Scotland and Berne, as well as the city of Albany. Two well-traveled roads, I-87 and I-90 travels directly to Guilderland, intersecting just northeast of Crossgate Mall, a big commercial center on the border of the hamlet. US-20 also travels directly to the hamlet. Libraries in Guilderland are affiliates of the Upper Hudson Library Organization. The biggest, Guilderland Public Library, functions as an educational capital for the hamlet as well as the encompassing regions. There are approximately six major fire divisions that also renders rescue; including Westmere Fire Division, Guilderland Fire Division, Fort Hunter Fire Division, Altamont Fire Division, McKownville Fire Division, North Bethlehem Fire Division, Pine Grove Fire Division as well as Guilderland Center Fire Division. Two major, but different medical associations, supports Emergency Medical Services for the hamlet of Guilderland Capital. Both Western Turnpike Rescue Team, as well as Altamont Rescue Team, can be of assistance to the confined neighborhood. |
