Honeoye Falls

Located on the Town of Mendon, New York is the village known as Honeoye Falls, which is populated with about 2,595 residents according to the year 2000 statistics. A small waterfall that can be found on the Honeoye Creek is the principal opening of the Honeoye Lake and runs through the village thus giving its name. In 1791, the village of Honeoye Falls was established when a man named Zebulon Norton bought the 1,820 acres of land. Norton first constructed a grist mill and afterward a saw mill located at the waterfall on Honeoye Creek and initially, the area was known as the Norton Mills. After several years, another mill was constructed by Hiram Finch which is then called as the Lower Mill to be distinguished from the first mill. In the year 1973, the second mill which is called Lower Mill was recorded on the National Register of Historic Places. The community of Honeoye Falls is situated in the southeastern junction of the Monroe County which is roughly 13 miles outside Rochester City and base on the census, the community is measured to have a total area of 2.6 square miles. The Honeoye Falls is being served by the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District. The Lima Primary School is within the district of Honeoye Falls but is situated in the Town of Lima where a Cougar is its school mascot. There are several events which is being celebrated annually which includes the Bennett Alliance Fest, a National jazz and folk festival and the Festival on the Green, a popular music and art event for their local artist.
