Middletown

Located in the Hudson Valley region of New York, close to the River of Wallkill and the base of the Shawangunk Mountains is the city of Middletown. This city is a part of the Orange County, New York and can be found in the midst of Port Jervis and Newburgh, New York. It is populated with about 25,388 residents according to the year 2000 statistics. Around 1744, the land were bought from the DeLancey patent by John Green and possibly lived afterward in the region. Because of its position in the midst of other places which already exist, the name "Middletown" was imitated. However, it was renamed later into "South Middletown" in order to prevent confusion with the other places within reach. In the long run, the word "south" is removed when the place became a village in the year 1848, making its present name "Middletown". After several years, the village was developed into a city in the year 1888. Today, two shopping malls are located in this city. One is the Galleria at Crystal Run which is the biggest among the two and the Route 211 East which is long commercial area. There are also schools that are located within the city and one of it is the Orange County Community College. Several Parks are also available including the High Lakes State Park and the Fancher Davidge Park. Each year they celebrate several events too like the Orange County Fair during summer and Horse Show during fall.
