Niagara County is a county situated in New York, United States. As of the Millennium Statistical Studies the area population was about 219,846. The capital city of Niagara is Lockport. The county name is derived from the Indian term Onguiaahra which means “the straight thunder of waters. Which can be found the Niagara Falls and Fort Niagara, and had different parks and lake shore amusement communities. During the summer season of the Niagara County as of last year they commemorate the 200th Birthday of the first town of the county which is the Town of Cambria. The county is belongs to the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. During the establishment of the county in New York society in 1683 the current Niagara County is formerly belong to Albany County. This is a very large county, involving the northern part of New York States also the current State of Vermont and the plan of reaching westward to the Pacific Ocean. This county was decreased in size on July 3, 1766 by the construction of Cumberland County and additional on March 16, 1770, by the constructions of Gloucester County, and presently belongs to Vermont. Niagara County was established from Genesee County in 1808. Although Genesee County had only the Town of Cambria but it was bigger than Niagara County. |
