Rockaway Park

Rockaway Park is a community in one of the district of New York City, which is Queens and is a portion of Queens Community Board 14. Its name was taken from a Native Indian words, which is diversely interpreted as "the place of our people" or "sandy place". The community of Rockaway Park is located at the Rockaway Peninsula which lies in midst of Jamaica Bay to its northern side and the Atlantic Ocean to its southern side. In the eastern boundary lies, the community of Rockaway Beach and on its western area lays the neighborhood of Belle Harbor. It is populated with about 19,702 residents according to the recent census and has a population growth of about 2.38 % from the year of 2000. This community has been known as the "Irish Riviera” because the large number of residents who has an Irish lineage. The community has an access towards Manhattan by the A train which is located at the Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street terminal. Rockaway Park has bus transits that are being managed by the MTA Bus Company. The climate of the community of Rockaway Park is mostly sunny with a normally 214 sunny days per year. There are libraries, which are located within the area, and among them is the Seaside Library.
