Situated on the southern portion of Albany City which is basically a community outside the city is the unorganized small town of Selkirk. It is a part of the Bethlehem Town which is located at Albany County, New York. A large freight railroad line called Selkirk Subdivision which is owned by a company named CSX Transportation operates in this area. All of the goods that are shipped to and from Boston pass through Selkirk when going to the north, south or west point. The line is also utilized as a transit from the city of New York going to the west point which is an alternate route known as Selkirk hurdle. The southeast terminal which is the Selkirk Yard, The railroad line becomes the Castleton Subdivision. Located also in Selkirkis the Audubon International which is an environmental educational organization that is a not for profit. It was organized in the year 1987 with the aim of assisting many hotels, golf courses and developments in 30 nations to announce and advocate their "green" awareness.
