Wappingers Falls is a hamlet in Dutchess District, New York. The namesake originated from the native Wappinger Indians. Part of the hamlet is in the municipality of Wappinger and the other part is in the municipality of Poughkeepsie, accompanying Wappinger Creek building the intersecting boundary amidst the municipalities. The estimated inhabitants of the hamlet Wappingers Falls were 4,929. Wappingers Falls is also a sector of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Center Town, NY Metropolitan Demographic Place also the bigger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Union Demographic Place. The hamlet of Wappingers Falls is home to New York State's sixth most aged library, the Grinnell Library. US 9 cross over the hamlet, also NY 9D. The region was a division of the Rombout Patent. The local waterfall was vital for early-industrialized advancement. There are five areas of worship not beyond the hamlet of Wappingers Falls. The original Presbyterian House of worship is situated on South Street together with the Bethel Missionary Baptist House of worship. The United Methodist House of Worship of Wappingers is situated on the East Main Avenue, as is the Zion Episcopal Religious Institution. St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Religious Institution is situated on Clinton Avenue. |
